Matthew McGarity HeadshotDescription: Learn how to create your own local installation of WordPress, which you can then use for all sorts of reasons without accidentally breaking your actual live blog. Be sure to bring your PC or Mac laptops and follow along as Spamboy walks you through the steps using your hard drives or memory sticks. In addition, he will also explain why every WordPress user should have one or more local installations.

About Spamboy: Matthew “Spamboy” McGarity began blogging in 2003 in an effort to entertain his friends and chronicle their many adventures together. These stories have been collected on his website as The Book of Spam, an ongoing, ever-updated, never-finished autobiography powered by WordPress and a custom theme. His nickname “Spamboy” comes from a now-23-year-old can of Spam currently entombed in a time capsule. Matthew lives in McKinney, TX with his wife Jennifer and baby son Zachary. During the day, he is a mild-mannered business analyst for a Fortune 1000 Company, while at night he strives to become a WordPress rock star (when he’s not changing diapers or training for marathons).
